Jason Ajemian, double bass player, singer and composer known for his collaborations with Exploding Star Orchestra, Chicago Underground Trio and Jeff Parker from Tortoise, pursues since 2001 the collective improv project Who Cares How Long You Sink, in which he leads musicians from different backrounds in a performance based on the breathing cycle of individual components of the orchestra. The uniform timing of the metronome is replaced by the timing of individual performers so that sounds combine toghether according to probabilistic formulas following the model of organic growth.
