Since the capability to record, process and generate sound is now within reach of anyone having access to a computer, and that different musical languages have become equally mixable in the digital domain, how can musicians in the post-electronic era find their way amongst the endless possibilities offered by technology? And is it still possible to make laptop performance an interesting experience, after we have come accustomed to seeing people sitting on stage behind their computer screens as if at an office desk?
The program curated by SoundKino for the third edition of FreeShout, which will be held on October 2nd at the former slaughterhouse in Prato, tries to present some answers to these issues relating to contemporary music production.
